The middling life in the Victorian era was a metre for writers to write about the unordinary. They started to explore topics such as Gothicism and romanticism. During the Victorian era R.L.S. wrote about horror and gothic topics, his writings in any case influenced many writers such as; Mary Shelley and Franz Kafka. The Scottish novelist, essayist, and poet Robert Louis Steven password (1850-1894) was cardinal of the most popular and highly regarded British writers of the end of the nineteenth century. He played a significant part in the revival of the novel of romance. He also wrote many far-famed books for example; Treasure Island and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson was born on Nov. 13, 1850, in Edinburgh, the son of a noted lighthouse builder and harbor engineer. though healthy at birth, Stevenson soon became a victim of uniform respiratory illnesses that later developed into tuberculosis that made him skeletally cut off and frail for most of his life. By the time he entered Edinburgh University at the age of 16, to study engineering, Stevenson then changed his major to writing.

When he was 21 years old, Stevenson openly declared his intention of becoming a writer against the strong opposition of his father. Agreeing to study law as a compromise, Stevenson was admitted to the Scottish bar in 1875. Having traveled to the simple several times for health and pleasure, he now swung suffer and forth between Scotland.
